Josie
I’m a born and raised Calgarian who has been coastal for 12 years now. I graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Education in 2015. I’ve been tutoring in Victoria for ten years now, and started Vic Tutoring in early 2020 when I found myself out of subbing work (Hello Covid!). My seven-year teaching career has consisted of subbing and multiple independent schools in the region, working at SMUS, and 5 years spent teaching French at Cathedral School. I enjoy tutoring very much, and find it deeply rewarding and satisfying helping students to succeed with their learning.
I specialize in the following subjects:
French (CORE and Immersion)
Reading, phonics, writing support
Math K-5
Testimonials
“Josie is a highly gifted educator. Kind, creative, empathetic, and remarkably supportive, she has a unique ability to engage children and figure out how they learn and what they need. When we initially asked Josie to help our son with conversational French, she noted a gap in his math learning that had not been observed in the school setting and worked with him to fill it. He is now thriving in the next grade and meeting or exceeding expectations in all subjects. He is an enthusiastic and confident learner because of Josie’s ongoing support!”
“Josie is nothing short of exceptional. She has great skill as an educator, is engaging, and has a beautiful personality to match. Our daughter has come to love her like a family member and is always excited to learn with her. She has completely changed our daughter’s approach to learning. We love Josie and highly recommend her.”
“Josie tutored my son in French and English for 4 years (Grade 4-8). She brought a lot of fun into our house as he was learning. On days that he was not motivated to focus after a long day of school, she would switch it up and do something meaningful. Josie worked very hard with him and he really benefitted from their sessions. Now that we are on the “COVID-19” pause, we are excited to restart learning with Josie. I highly recommend her!”
